Artist: Uncle Acid and the deadbeats
Song: “Melody Lane”
Why You Want to Watch: A witchy, sleazy and scary video I’m surprised made it past the censors. You can get ready for a spooky Halloween perhaps, or even sooner, get ready for Uncle Acid and the deadbeats’ upcoming show at El Corazon this month on the 26th. The Brits will be here to play some of this year’s Night Creeper; the show will be wild.

Artist: The Allies
Song: “Emma Peel”
Why You Want to Watch: There’s no fuss here, just a guy’s obsession with The Avenger‘s Emma Peel. Look for a cameo by Seattle’s now gone The Older Timer’s Cafe (which, I think is now Utilikilts in Pioneer Square). The Internet tells me that Bruce Springsteen dropped by and played there in 1980.
Details: Track comes off the Allies’ only full-length, Allies. The Seattle original power pop band released the album in 1982, with a re-release on Haunted Field Label, label of the Allies’ Dave Kincaid.

Artist: Blue Zoo
Song: “Cry Boy Cry”
Why You Want to Watch: The only music video I can think of where the singer is locked in a bedroom while his band mates reach for him with their arms in gloves. Through a wall. It’s weird.
Details: The song “Cry Boy Cry” came out in 1983. Blue Zoo, a British band who started in the ’80s, reformed in 2010!

Artist: Alison Wonderland
Song: “Take It To Reality”
Why you want to watch: Neat little graphics highlighting Alison in Wonderland and her fans. There’s lots of dancing and fun going on here – totally appropriate, as the genre listed on Alison Wonderland’s Facebook page is party.
Details: Sydney, Australia DJ Alison Wonderland’s debut album, Run, just came out this year. It sees her working with the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne on track “U Don’t Know.”

Artist: The Vaccines
Song: “20/20”
Why you want to watch: There’s some weird stuff going on with a fellow and eyes; and it’s the Vaccines, sounding great and looking dishy in white.
Details: Always a favorite of mine, the Vaccines have a hot new album, English Graffiti, and return to Seattle on August 8th for a date with their fans at Neumos.

Artist: Raw Calibre
Song: “Madman”
Why you want to watch: Manchester, England’s Raw Calibre get locked up and bloodied, piñata style. This is probably NSFW. In the words of the director KC Locke, it’s “Sick in every meaning of the word.”
Details: A cool-sounding grime band whose debut EP, Hierarchy comes out next month.

Artist: July Talk
Song: “Guns & Ammunition”
Why you want to watch: A straightforward piece emphasizing the lead singers in a stark and sexy way.
Details: Canadian band with fascinating vocals by Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay. Don’t know this group? Familiarize yourselves now – they have a date in Seattle at the Sunset on June 1st.
