Even on a Sunday night, the indie rock duo from Los Angeles – Uh Huh Her – were able to pack Chop Suey. Camila Grey (keyboards, guitar) and Leisha Hailey (bass, guitar) are due to release Nocturnes sometime this spring.

Diamonds Under Fire, aka singer/songwriter Vanessa Silberman opened for Uh Huh Her at Chop Suey on Sunday evening. Silberman is based out of Los Angeles, and has drawn comparisons to Chrissie Hynde of Pretenders. I can definitely see that.

On Friday night the brilliant Ari Hest played at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle. Renata Steiner brings back some fabulous photos of the multi-instrumentalist Hest, whose new album Sunset Over Hope Street just came out in March. I can’t wait for Hest to return and see him for myself!

Videos: the Luyas, Editors & Yuck
I love sparkly things so I have to say I love the video for “Tiny Head” by the Luyas. I also like the black-and-white starkness of this video with just singer Jessie Stein’s face as the focus. They’re here tonight, opening for Liam Finn at the Crocodile.

Here’s a spooky video from Editors for “Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool”. As bonuses, there’s an evil Micky Mouse plus a skeleton riding a dinosaur. Dang. I don’t want to get left out, or get fucked, indeed.

Has a band called itself Yuck before? Not to my knowledge. Yuck comes to Seattle’s Neumos with Tame Impala on April 22nd. I like this song, “Get Away,” and the video features some Cat Fancy action.

Yay, we’ve got sweet shots by Alex Crick of Akron/Family‘s appearance at Neumos on Thursday. I also recommend that you check out Akron/Family’s fantastic video for “Silly Bears”. I posted the video already but I love it so much I had to point to it again!
