Photos: Bumbershoot 2015 – Day 1 w/Smokey Brights, Elle King, Kacey Musgraves & Phoebe Bridgers

You would never know by looking at these photos, but the first day of Bumbershoot had real thunder and lightning hit the grounds. As the storm came and went, artists such as Smokey Brights, Elle King, Kacey Musgraves and Phoebe Bridgers performed – bravely – for festival attendees:

Video: The Allies’ “Emma Peel”

Artist: The Allies
Song: “Emma Peel”
Why You Want to Watch: There’s no fuss here, just a guy’s obsession with The Avenger‘s Emma Peel. Look for a cameo by Seattle’s now gone The Older Timer’s Cafe (which, I think is now Utilikilts in Pioneer Square). The Internet tells me that Bruce Springsteen dropped by and played there in 1980.
Details: Track comes off the Allies’ only full-length, Allies. The Seattle original power pop band released the album in 1982, with a re-release on Haunted Field Label, label of the Allies’ Dave Kincaid.

Photos: Passport Approved w/Buffalo Sunn, These Reigning Days, Forest Blakk & New Beat Fund @ the Crocodile

Passport Approved, a radio show you just might have heard on local station the End, brought together several bands to tour the States. This year’s tour included, among others, Ireland’s Buffalo Sunn, England’s These Reigning Days, Canada’s Forest Blakk, and Los Angeles’ New Beat Fund, all bands Passport Approved wants you to know. By the way, Buffalo Sunn’s four out of five members are brothers. Pretty cool.

Photos: Vaadat Charigrim @ Barboza

Vaadat Charigrim, a rock band from Israel visited Seattle in May. The Tel Aviv trio, whose name means Exceptions Committee, now have two albums; this year’s Sinking As A Stone, with songs also in Hebrew, has brought them more international acclaim. Songs such as “Lehitorer Velo Lada’at” (“Waking Up and Not Knowing What’s Wrong”) (discussed on Papermag) gaze more into the distance than just at any shoe. Well done!

Peter Frampton

Supporting his 2014 album, Hummingbird in a Box, Peter Frampton rocked Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington with Cheap Trick to a crazed crowd. Frampton and Cheap Trick sounded incredible and their performances brought back tons of memories from our childhood. Fans danced and shouted.

We all had so much fun remembering these fantastic songs and discovering the new ones.
