Photos: Little Boots, Dragonette & Class Actress @ Neumos

Little Boots came to Seattle recently in all her perfect splendor with two fantastic opening bands, Class Actress and Dragonette. Each of these bands made me really happy. I love listening to them and seeing them live was just joyous. Maybe it’s the beautiful female vocals, maybe it’s the dance music rhythms, maybe it’s those two things put together in a blend of happy, touching, grabbing ardor. You could see any one of these bands as a headliner and come out pleased – as a trio it was stupendous. I got photos at the show of each band:

Photos: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ the Showbox Market

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club played the Showbox Market on Friday night. I have seen this band several times and they are always exciting and passionate. This Tuesday they released their latest CD, the stunning Beat the Devil’s Tattoo. They’re a fascinating band and new addition, drummer Leah Shapiro, is absolutely one of the top drummers out there today. I am so thrilled I got to take photos at their sultry show and I really think they should have a follow-up tour to bring them back here. Immediately please.

Video: Teletubbies Do Soft Cell’s Sex Dwarf

Soft Cell‘s Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is still one of the best albums ever. I am such a fan. It of course features their hit Tainted Love, but even better are Seedy Films, Frustration, Secret Life, Bedsitter, Chips on My Shoulder and Sex Dwarf.

I am also such a fan of Teletubbies, those wondrous creations who so terrorized many children and adults in the ’90s. And beyond. So how happy was I to come across this genius combination of Sex Dwarf and Teletubbies? Very.

Video: The King and All His Men by Wolf Gang

Wolf Gang (AKA Max McElligott) is from London and I first read about him a while ago in NME. NME’s recently posted the video for his song The King and All His Men, and it’s a twisted one featuring the starkness of only black & white makeup and costumes. I especially like the person wearing a plague mask. I hope Wolf Gang makes it over to the States – this is just the kind of 80s music I really adore and other songs I’ve heard from him are equally cool.
