Ingrid Michaelson @ Moore Theater

Ingrid Michaelson played a sold out show at the Moore Theater last week. She’s in the middle of her full band tour after a dozen intimate “Pop-Up” Shows earlier this year, with each limited to a few hundred audience members (e.g., Tractor Tavern in February). Flanked by Bess Rogers and Allie Moss on guitar and vocals, the redheaded Michaelson – with her signature glasses – was her usual witty self as she played songs off her latest album, “Human Again”. I’ve had the pleasure of shooting Ingrid’s shows numerous times and this was by far the most entertaining.

Counting Crows were in Seattle on April 13th for a headlining show at Showbox SoDo. Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) is their latest release, an album of material written by such artists as The Faces and Bob Dylan – plus a Travis song, “Coming Around.” Looking good, Counting Crows – thank you to Matthew Lamb for these photos:

The hedonistic and wonderful Andrew W.K. headlined Showbox Market on March 4th, performing in his signature white ensemble. You must love this man – how could you not? Really. Photographer Geoffrey Gribbin captured these shots of what appears to be a smoking hot party. “Party Til You Puke,” indeed. Andrew W.K., please come back soon.

Show Review & Photos: Escape the Fate, Attack Attack! & The Word Alive @ Showbox Market

Escape the Fate, Attack Attack and The Word Alive @ Showbox Market, 4/16/2012
Review & photos by Heather Fitzpatrick

It’s a “Metal” show at The Showbox Market on a Monday night, April 16th
. . . Were they ready?

Escape the Fate

Line around the block? Check. Tons of equipment on stage? Check. Plenty of security on hand so make sure no one got hurt? CHECK! Escape the Fate, Attack Attack!, The Word Alive, Mest & Secrets were all to take the stage. All of the makings for a fun metal show were there, and the crowd fed on every note. Each band’s lead singer asked (okay, demanded) that everybody “MOVE,” “SURF,” or go home. The crowd complied with their first two demands, and the “mosh pit” grew to the entire floor of the Showbox (Market). There were no fewer than 40 crowd surfing fans throughout the show, most starting their ascent upon each band’s first or second song. By the time Escape the Fate took the stage as the final set time, fans were just as eager to move. Lead vocalist, Craig Mabbitt told stories of how each and every one of the audience meant something to the band and he looks forward to returning (soon!), both with the band and with his solo project, The Dead Rabbitts.

Escape the Fate

From what I saw on Monday, there will definitely be an audience lined up around the block again, ready and waiting to ROCK!

Celtic Woman @ The Paramount Theater

Celtic Woman brought their Believe tour to the Paramount Theater earlier this week. The all-female musical ensemble from Ireland included vocalists Chloe Agnew, Lisa Lambe and Susan McFadden, and fiddler Mairead Nesbitt who played a medley of songs ranging from customary Celtic tunes to modern-day numbers. They were backed by a six-member choir, dancers, and a small orchestra emphasizing drums and traditional instruments. On several occasions the vocalists, dancers and musicians made their way to the main floor – much to the delight of the audience.
