As soon as Fiona Apple took the stage at the Paramount last week, the enthusiastic audience were on their feet and stayed there for her complete 90-minute set. Starting with “Fast As You Can,” she alternated between songs at her piano and vocals only, center stage.
The crowd of elegantly dressed women waited with bated breath for the Pop-Opera stars formally known around the world as – Il Divo – to glide onto the stage at The Paramount Theater in Seattle.
The lights swept upward confidently and bathed the crowd in a blanket of light. Thousands of ladies screamed with the energy of lovers reunited.
Il Divo (divine male performer) is a group of four male virtuosos: French pop singer, Sébastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, American tenor David Miller, and Swiss tenor Urs Bühler.
The performance was very high energy, a little campy, but a lot of fun. Everyone seemed to have their favorite. The fans yelled each of their names and then groups of women would cheer for that singer.
I have to say that this rock and blues fan really had a great time watching his mother-in-law and wife giggle like school girls over these (okay, fine) attractive men.

Sandrider played at the Barboza stage of Capitol Hill Block Party on Saturday. The trio roared along as one with the audience for a sweet and loud set. Thank you Sandrider, you rule. Readers, if you want some good rock get their album. Their next show looks like isn’t until August 16th in Montana.

Father John Misty, Crystal Stilts and Nü Sensae all played the Capitol Hill Block Party on Friday – good examples of the variety this festival offered. You can catch Father John Misty again on September 21st at Neumos whether you missed him this time. You’ll probably want to see him again even if you just caught him at the Block Party.
