The magnetic Harry Belafonte was at the Moore Theatre on January 19th. Belafonte, who has made a career in music and film, is also a a political activist and humanitarian. In 2011 a film called Sing Your Song was released – it’s a documentary about the artist. Enjoy some photos by Alex Crick of Belafonte’s Seattle performance:

Show Review & Photos: Band of Skulls @ KeyArena
Band of Skulls @ KeyArena, 2/1
Show Review & Photos by Dagmar
I nearly missed Band of Skulls on Friday night. Just one day before the show I found out they had the opening slot for Muse at KeyArena, and I scrambled to see if I could photograph the British trio’s set. I was so very fortunate to get credentials – Band of Skulls is a favorite of mine, one that built a huge presence in my music fandom with their albums, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey and Sweet Sour, and the other two times I saw them in Seattle. I love Band of Skulls’ driven and expert rock. Songs such as “Death by Diamonds and Pearls,” “Hollywood,” “Bruises,” Sweet Sour,” “You’re Not Pretty But You Got It Goin’ On” were pure yet dirty – I missed “The Devil Takes Care of His Own” while getting my camera out of the venue (rules!). Word is that was super as well. There was also quite a large segment of fellow fans in the audience, who sang along and were into the show. I can’t wait for Band of Skulls to come back to Seattle.
Photos: Experience the Beatles with Rain @ the Edgewater Inn
Experience the Beatles with Rain, the Beatles tribute band, held a press conference and performed a couple Beatles tunes on Thursday afternoon. In 1964 the Beatles performed two shows on August 21st at Seattle’s Coliseum – but they also talked with the press. The Beatles famously stayed at the Edgewater Inn, fished out their room’s window, and there was no way I would miss this press event giving the Beatles’ lore a nod. For this event, Rain wore suits -including the Wells Fargo deputy badges- like the Beatles sported for their 1965 Shea Stadium show. Experience the Beatles with Rain runs from tonight through February 3rd at the Moore.

On November 2, 2012, the incredible Italian DJ Benny Benassi appeared at Showbox SoDo. After his 2011 release, Electroman, Benassi produced a few tracks for Madonna’s MDNA and did a great remix of the Rolling Stones’ “Doom and Gloom.” All photos by Geoffrey Gribbin:
