I emptied the last of the pixels from my camera, taken on the first day of Bumbershoot 2010, and came away with the following shots of Star Anna, Mike McCready, Zoe Muth, The Maldives, Justin Townes Earle, Edward Sharpe and This Providence.
I don’t think I have talked long with a person who doesn’t like at least one song by the Smashing Pumpkins. Some bands are just like that, they just must have something that you like about them, some song you dig. I got hooked on the Smashing Pumpkins kind of late, around Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and by that time they’d already released Gish and Siamese Dream. But whenever you got into them you show impeccable taste. Photographer Alex Crick went to their Seattle show on Friday night and brought back some ace pix of Billy Corgan and company – as well as shots of openers Bad City.

Local favorite Visqueen and Mr. R&B, Solomon Burke, were the closers for their respective stages on Saturday evening, the first day of Bumbershoot.
Jenny & Johnny and Laura Veirs & The Hall of Flames both had sets Monday evening at the final day of Bumbershoot.
Two of my all-time favorite bands both made it to Bumbershoot this year. The Head and the Heart were an amazing surprise since they weren’t originally slated to be there, but there they were at the Toyota stage early Saturday morning to start my festival weekend off the best way possible. Then a little later, it got that much better as I sang along in the crowd to the Decemberists. They played several of their yet-to-be-released songs from their upcoming album (yay!).
