After packing the house at the Showbox SoDo for three nights in a row, Mike Ness and the rest of Social Distortion treated a select group of 107.7 The End winners to an intimate acoustic session at The Crocodile on Sunday afternoon. Not only was it strange to be at The Croc while the sun was still out, but it was a real treat to see such a legendary punk rock band perform unplugged. Greg R also hosted the event by asking Ness questions in between songs, and it was revealed that Social D doesn’t feel the need to be one of those bands that releases an album every year, although they are currently on tour in support of their recent release Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes. See some cool pics from this one-of-a-kind End Session below, and on Flickr.

British rockers Cradle of Filth played the Showbox Market on Friday night, and photographer Geoffrey Gribbin caught them in action. The band’s newest album, Midnight in the Labyrinth, is set for a 2011 release. Check out their blog on FEARnet (one of my fave channels & sites, by the way).

Show Review & Photos: Bellydance Superstars Presents Bombay Bellywood @ the Market
Seattle’s Showbox at the Market had a distinctly Far Eastern flavor last night as dance troupe Bellydance Superstars brought their latest stage production, “Bombay Bellywood,” to an entranced crowd of admirers. Bellydancing has been steadily gaining in popularity for the last decade or so as both art and exercise, celebrated as sensual, sexy, and accepting of a wider range of female body types, unlike many other dance genres. “Bombay Bellywood” incorporated traditional and tribal bellydance styles along with more Western moves from jazz to Broadway to hip-hop and a thumping contemporary soundtrack, creating a fun and fresh evening. The costumes were simply gorgeous, and the smiles nonstop from both the dancers and the audience.

The other Friday we missed Valient Thorr‘s set as they opened for Motörhead – their first 3 songs as it happened; they sounded great but alas no photos. We did catch Maryland’s Clutch as they played second. Clutch’s lead singer, Neil Fallon, stirred up the crowd.
