Photos: 107.7 The End’s Summer Camp 2012

This year’s Summer Camp brought some AMAZING bands to Redmond Washington for an outdoor show that attracts people of all ages from all over Washington, Oregon, and even Canada! I showed up a little late thanks to the old 9-5, but was still able to catch some of the big bands. Every band I saw was awesome, and I either already had their album or ran out and bought it after the show. FUN. definitely brought a memorable performance by spraying confetti all over the crowd and lighting it up with all the colors of the rainbow! Check out some of the highlights below! (along with a little cheesy animated LOVE for the FUN. Fetti show Fun. put on)

 Walk The Moon

Though they are often recognized for their hit single, “Anna Sun,” their full length self-titled album was available as of June this year, and is totally worth a listen (or 50).

Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons @ Marymoor Park

Saturday evening cooled down while the audience settled back in their chairs to watch Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons open for Norah Jones at Marymoor Park in Redmond, just down the street from Microsoft. Chisel and his longtime collaborator Adriel Harris, are touring in support of their new album, Old Believer. They’ll finish their US tour at the end of the month, then it’s off to Europe for the month of September.

Charli XCX

The astonishing British singer Charli XCX was in Seattle last Tuesday for a show at Chop Suey. She’s only twenty, but she began performing at the age of seven. A songwriter as well, Charli XCX put on a show that simply wrecked me. Goth queen? Pop star? Awesome dancer? Which thing would I say she’s the most? I don’t know. She’s just every bit a stunner. When she moaned “I knew you were no angel, but god, what did I do?” in “Stay Away,” the words warped into the electronic groan. Her vocals were, and are on record as well, and luxurious. The audience was well into her performance as well, dancing along and being happy to see this amazing woman. There was not one misfire in the show, and she even did a cool cover of Echo and the Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon.” All of her songs are excellent, and I am chomping at the bit for more of her music, such as in the form a major LP. While we wait, I recommend you get your copy of Charli XCX’s Heartbreaks and Earthquakes Mixtape (her music!!) from her site.
