On October 5th the Paramount hosted New York quartet Grizzly Bear. The band’s fourth release, Shields, came out in September 2012, receiving high praise from fans and critics. The video for Shields‘ song “Yet Again” featured a disillusioned ice skater. All photos of Seattle’s show by Alex Crick:

City Arts Fest outdid itself with one of its final shows: Two Door Cinema Club, Friends, Motopony and St. Lucia at Showbox SoDo. Any one of these groups could headline many venues, and for this Saturday evening the gargantuanly great Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club held the final slot. New York’s Friends and St. Lucia are two dance-worthy outfits we’re hoping return very soon, and Seattle’s Motopony are winning over every person who sees them perform. North Carolina native Tift Merritt recently played at the packed Tractor Tavern in Ballard in support of her new album, Travelling Alone. Longtime band member Jay Brown, backed Tift on bass and vocals.

The brilliant and just a little dirty comedian Doug Stanhope appears this Thursday, November 8th at the Neptune. Stanhope, who co-hosted The Man Show and has created several comedy DVDS – including his latest, Before Turning The Gun On Himself, which hits stores tomorrow – gets this description in the presser I received: “He started his career in Las Vegas doing jack-off jokes for free drinks. Not much has changed, save for the mullet.” Sounds like a solid way to go about life! You’ve probably seen him on Louis CK’s show, Louie or maybe you were in an Icelandic prison for his appearance at the Litla-Hraun Maximum Security Prison in September 2011. That’s pretty tough. He loves animals. I think I’m in love, and I recommend his show.
