Always a must-see when she’s in town, Nicole Atkins returned to Seattle on February 28th for a show at the Nectar Lounge. She’s in the middle of her US tour in support of her amazing new album, Slow Phaser. I’ll likely wind up with an “Atkins Overdose” next week when I see several of her many performances at SXSW in Austin.

The wonderful and prolific Ani DiFranco returned to Seattle as the headliner at the Moore on February 22nd. You could now call her Dr. DiFranco; she just received an Honorary Doctorate from University of Winnipeg in November, 2013. All lovely photos by Dana Pleasant:

Dreams, Furniture Girls‘ new EP, saw its release on February 21st at the High Dive. The Seattle quintet plan on releasing a second EP this year – I anticipate a party for that one as well! If you’re heading to SXSW you can catch the group at Heart of Texas RockFest on March 13th. And openers the Yev, have another show set at LoFi on March 9th. All photos by Steve Campagna:

The Head and the Heart sold out the Paramount for two dates in February. If you can’t see the band live, you can of course enjoy their videos for some visual the Head and the Heart vibes (the group’s latest is “Another Story,” featuring Pretty Liars‘ Troian Bellisario). The first of the two Seattle shows, held on February 21st, included two other Seattle bands, Rose Windows and La Luz as openers. All photos by Dana Pleasant:

Pixies hit the Paramount on February 18th, and brought Best Coast along as openers – that’s a great double bill. Last year they released an EP with all new music, and while some nifty bundles including hoodies are sold out, the music is still wonderfully available!
