Video: Peking Duk’s “Stranger feat. Elliphant”

Band: Peking Duk

Why You Want to Watch: Lady and the Tramp gets a 2016 update (to me, anyway) in Peking Duk’s video for “Stranger feat. Elliphant,” featuring a Doberman Pinscher and, I think, a Lhasa Apso. Peking Duk, a Canberra, Australia duo, had director Lior Molcho (he’s directed videos for Sia, Elle King & others) at the helm of this one. Some backstory, from the band itself: We quickly gravitated towards the simple idea of following the story in the lyrics. . . . We wanted to capture the feeling that everyone has felt at least once at the end of a big night. We wanted to reproduce those times where you want to keep the night going, and preferably with someone else riding that same wave as you. When it’s done right it can be magical. . . To make it lighter and truly show everyone how we see the story, we decided to use physical dog actors instead of humans. Deep down inside we’re all dogs. We are stoked with how quickly it came together!”

Very cute video to accompany a very good song!

Photos: Sum 41 @ the Neptune Theatre

Making a stop in Seattle before Halloween, Sum 41 brought its Don’t Call It a Sum-Back tour to the Neptune Theatre. We’re happy to see the Canadian band back in action after singer-guitarist Deryck Whibley spent some time in the hospital recently, and one good thing to come of his treatment is the new Sum 41 album, 13 Voices. Whibley shared: “I had to learn how to do everything again – my motor skills, learning how to play guitar again. . . I couldn’t even walk at the time. . . I don’t think I would have recovered as quickly, or even at all. Writing music gave me a purpose.” Thank you, Sum 41, and to photographer Monica Martinez for the photos of them and openers, Senses Fail.

Photos: The Head and the Heart @ the Paramount

Seattle’s own the Head and the Heart headlined three nights at the Paramount from November 5-7, 2016! We got photographer Dana Pleasant in to cover the last show, which was all part of the group’s Signs of Light tour. Loving those palm trees and neon lights they’ve got on stage with them. That Hawaiian shirt is also out of sight!

The sextet released Signs of Light, their first album on Warner Bros. this September, and it’s already their highest-charting recording yet. Well done! They’re gearing up right now for a huge tour, which will find them invading Europe this winter, and back in Seattle for an appearance at Deck the Hall Ball on December 6th. Congratulations to this beloved band for their success.
