Song: The Wombats’ “Lemon To A Knife Fight”

Band: The Wombats
Song: “Lemon To A Knife Fight”
Why You Want to Listen: Get up to date with Brits the Wombats. “Lemon To A Knife Fight” is a great track, boding very well for the upcoming album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life. I can’t wait for the album. And 2018 will be a huge year for the group, with a headline tour in January, and a supporting slot on the Weezer and Pixies tour in July. I think their January 31 show at Showbox at the Market will be the largest venue they’ve headlined in Seattle. Well done.

Haley Reinhart – American Idol finalist in 2011 – brought her What’s That Sound? Tour to Chop Suey, one of the first stops. Reinhart and her four-member band are on the road in support of her third studio album with the same name. The show was the day before Halloween, so on several occasions, she threw handfuls of candy into the audience. The evening ended with a three-song encore, complete with costume change. Portland-based singer-songwriter Moorea Masa and her band The Mood opened.

Florida Georgia Line

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, from Georgia and Florida, respectively, comprise the country duo we know as Florida Georgia Line. They’ve been nominated for – and won – so many awards you start to lose count. And the awards are from a huge variety of organizations, from Billboard to Teen Choice Awards to CMA Awards. Really impressive. The Tacoma Dome appearance they made in 2016 was just one date of their Dig Your Roots Tour, which found its roots in the album, Dig Your Roots. If you’ve been paying attention to them this year (we hope you have), you’ll know one of their projects is “Meant to Be,” a collaboration with Bebe Rexhe. Texan Granger Smith provide support for this concert, which we’re sharing as part 17 of our Memory Lane series.

Anthrax. Killswitch Engage. Together they are Killthrax, a great metal combination. Turns out the Killthrax Tour earlier this year was so successful (our date was April 25), the bands will join forces again in 2018 for Killthrax II. Dates for that tour are now set, starting in January. Those shows will have Havok as openers. This year’s tour had hardcore quartet the Devil Wears Prada, who just partnered with Metric Coffee to combine coffee with a special TDWP mug, open the co-headlining tour. No one asked us to mention the coffee, it’s just a cool thing.
