Music: Dim Sum’s “Stay”

Band: Dim Sum
Song: “Stay”
Why You Want to Listen: Dim Sum, a producer and electronic musician from France, has remixed songs by Foster the People and Odesza. And others! He does his own thing as well, including (I think I am right on this) three EPs. His second single off Right Track makes my day.

Memory Lane Series lucky number 12 features Jonathan Leung’s photos from Nick Waterhouse’s show at Neumos in 2016. A rhythm and blues musician, Waterhouse’s newest album, Never Twice, includes a track with Leon Bridges. The album is also the first Waterhouse album not self-produced. Instead, production duties went to Michael McHugh (Black Lips,Ty Segall). Seattle’s Acapulco Lips celebrated in style by touring Europe this summer, with loads of dates in France.

In a stripped down acoustic set, Megs McLean opened for Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan at a stop during their Grits & Glamour tour, at the Tulalip Casino north of Seattle. Backed by Ilya Ignatov on guitar, the local country artist treated the 1000+ member audience to songs from her Out Of School EP plus several new ones that the crowd were the first ones to hear.

Violent Soho

Memory Lane Series number 11 brings us photos from Australia’s Violent Soho’s headlining show at the Sunset in August 2016. A grunge band, the quartet lived in New York for a while, and are now on the Australian label, I OH YOU (same home of DMA’s and DZ Deathrays!). Also on the bill? Seattle’s Mutiny Mutiny.

Photos: The Wolf’s Hometown Throwdown

In the shadow of Mount Rainier, Enumclaw recently hosted The Wolf’s Hometown Throwdown. The all-day country music festival, which was hosted by KKWF 100.7 FM, featured 11 performers – Justin Moore, Canaan Smith, Dylan Scott, Aaron Watson, Lanco, Brooke Eden, Carly Pearce, Drew Baldridge, Dylan Jakobsen, and The Olson Bros Band. Four performers participated in a guitar pull and there as even a proposal in front of thousands (the answer was “Yes!”). Throughout the event, there were nearly as many attendees in the beer garden as there were in front of the stage. The photos are shown in reverse chronological order – from Justin Moore (headliner) to The Olson Bros. Band (opener).
