Cherry Poppin’ Daddies will appear at Seattle’s Jazz Alley on Tuesday, November 13th, Wednesday, November 14th and Thursday, November 15th. The Oregon swing/ska/punk band is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their smashing compilation album, Zoot Suit Riot, which got remixed and remastered last year. Cool! Something that really excites me about this group is how they combine so many different music styles, and they do it well. They perfectly describe their sound in this way on their Facebook: “Swing, Ska, Rock, Punk, I do what I want!” I wholeheartedly approve of that. Want more good news from the Daddies? They’ve got a new album slated for release soon called Bigger Life.

Head to Jazz Alley’s event page for tickets and more show details.

Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque returns to the Showbox on Wednesday, November 7th. This will be the first date on the girls’ current tour, which showcases wonderful performances by some of the Suicide Girls’ pin-ups. Suicide Girls, a website with a community, is indeed known for its commitment to its belief that: “What some people think makes us strange, or weird, or fucked up, we think is what makes us beautiful.” Agreed. The variety of artistic references in the burlesque, from Napoleon Dynamite to Black Panther, is truly amazing. The show is 18+, with a few tickets still available.

Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque made its first Seattele appearance of the year in May. Another bit of good news: they’ll be here again tomorrow! We’ll have more details on that in just a few minutes. First, enjoy some marvelous photos of the girls from the spring visit. There were fan dances, a black panther, Napoleon Dynamite, hula hoops & more. Who can say what gorgeous things will happen tomorrow? Very exciting.
