Primus & Battles @ Marymoor Park – 8/14/21

What a fantastic double bill this is! If you were at Marymoor Park on Saturday night (or maybe you couldn’t go, but you heard it if you were close by) you saw Primus and Battles play what I think must have been one of the park’s first shows since the pandemic hit. With a cool approach of playing another band’s entire album for A Tribute to Kings tour, Primus played Rush’s entire 1977 album A Farewell to Kings. I like this idea. Opening was New York’s Battles, who have a couple more dates on Primus’ West Coast tour leg.

All good things must come to an end, including the beautiful scenery on Day 3 of Watershed due to the thick wildfire smoke.  Nonetheless, the huge crowd didn’t miss a beat – from standing room only in front of the stage to those in lawn chairs on the hillside.  The photos are shown in reverse chronological order – from the headliners in the evening on each stage, to the openers in the early afternoon.

Day 2 of Watershed had nine artists performing on the Main and Next From Nashville stages.  Originally a winery, the 27,500-seat amphitheatre is located high above the banks of the Columbia River and is consistently rated one of the most beautiful venues in the country.  The photos are shown in reverse chronological order – from the headliners in the evening on each stage, to the openers in the early afternoon.

After a one-year pandemic hiatus, the Watershed Country Music Festival returned to The Gorge Amphitheatre with eight artists performing on the Main and Next From Nashville stages on Day 1.  With the COVID restrictions recently lifted in Washington State, Watershed was probably the first concert for most of the attendees in well over a year.  Even with the 102-degree high heat alert, nearly every artist commented how great is was to be back on stage again. The photos are shown in reverse chronological order – from the headliners in the evening on each stage, to the openers in the early afternoon.
