The infinitely awesome My Chemical Romance headlined the Tacoma Dome (that’s a huge venue right near Seattle). While MCR fans are always hungry for MORE MCR, that hunger got some satiation when the band got back together a few years ago. But then COVID-19 forced the cancellation of reunion shows. Finally September & October 2022 saw MCR return with a Thank You! tour, including two hometown shows in Newark, New Jersey. Cool happiness has ensued. The excellent new track “The Foundations of Decay” is beautiful. Thank you, MCR. And thank you to photographer Monica Martinez for the arty film snaps.

Why You Want to Watch: Stokes said the video was “inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the idea of falling down the rabbit hole.” I can get behind that! I love everything about this video: the animal masks, Stokes herself, the party they all have. Special praise for director of photography Justin Kaminuma, who made a really cool hazy atmosphere. Click on the above link or the photo to watch the video & Happy Halloween!

Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen performed her second sold out show in Seattle last week. The Showbox SoDo performances were near the end of the 26-city The So Nice Tour.  Backed by a four-member band and two singers, Jepsen performed songs from her recently released, The Loneliest Time album, as well as favorites from her nearly 15-year career.  Twin confetti cannons erupted during the first song, much to the delight – and surprise – of the audience.  Los Angeles based Empress Of opened.

Americana singer-songwriter Amanda Shires headlined at the Tractor Tavern in a show that was sold out months ago.  The Grammy-winning artist performed songs from her new Take It Like A Man album and other original material, while alternating between fiddle, electric uke, and singing with her four-member backing band.  The audience especially loved Shires’ encore when she returned to the stage with a huge pair of wings on her back.

Talented singer-songwriter Avery Anna opened for Spencer Crandall at a sold out show at the Tractor Tavern. Seattle was the first stop of their North American tour.  Avery performed songs from her recently released debut EP, Mood Swings, plus Taylor Swift, Adele, and Johnny Cash covers.  She stunned the audience – myself included – when she announced that she was only 18 years old!  Her onstage presence was that of a seasoned professional and she has already signed with Warner Music.  I predict you’ll hear much more from Avery in the near future.
