Photos: Electric Six @ Chop Suey

I have a long and boring story I could share about why it took me so long to get these photos ready. Basically it involves my camera deciding to shoot only in the RAW and making it very difficult to edit these photos. Anyway, I love Electric Six and want them to return when my camera decides to behave itself again -and it will. Anytime. Anytime. My photos of one of the best bands, ever:

Photos: Muse @ KeyArena

If Muse had arranged for a spaceship to land in the middle of KeyArena it would not have surprised me one bit. If any band could manage that Muse is it, and that’s about the only way they could top themselves with their incredible music and galactic stage set. Although they manage to pull you into another world with their music, so there’s really no need for that spaceship. . . I first saw them at a much smaller venue in Seattle about seven years ago and it was always obvious their sound was made to fill huge arenas as easily as it lives in individual ways inside their fans. The show included a rotating drum kit (yes!!) and singer/guitarist Matthew Bellamy seemed to hold what was his own personal laser beam in between guitar licks. They are some of the best musicians you will ever hear. Hysteria indeed. As with my pix of openers, Silversun Pickups, I will post more photos soon – but here are some now:

Silversun Pickups opened for Muse last night in a pairing straight out of my dreams. The atmosphere at this show was really charged and I doubt there were people there who were not fans of both bands. If they weren’t they absolutely must have left as fans. This was my fourth time at a Silversun Pickups show and I can’t believe how great they are. I will have more of my photos ready soon but wanted to share these as soon as I could!

Photos & Show Review: John Mayer @ KeyArena

John Mayer opened his show last night at KeyArena with Heartbreak Warfare, one of my favorite songs off his new CD, Battle Studies. The first half of his set, which included Belief, Perfectly Lonely, Crossroads and Assassin moved gorgeously into some more bluesy numbers, Dreaming With a Broken Heart and Heavier Things’ Clarity and Daughters. Half of My Heart was a perfect song for Mayer to do live. The song is a beautiful, solid and romantic piece. Mayer, who ended his set with an encore of two strong and moving songs, Who Says and Gravity, chatted with the audience and his vocals were so clear it was kind of like he was just right next to you. His guitar playing was exquisite, as I expected it would be. He’s bewitching. Photos:
