In her first headlining tour, LA-based singer-songwriter Rozzi performed for an enthusiastic crowd at Madame Lou’s. Demonstrating her wide vocal range throughout the show, Rozzi also played piano on numerous songs and was accompanied by Julianna Zachariou on guitar, keys and vocals. Rozzi just released her sixth EP, Live From Home, that was recorded on her living room floor. Soulful R&B artist Sophia Galaté opened.

Ladytron w/BLAKKAT @ The Neptune – 5/10/23

English electropop group Ladytron returned to The Neptune on May 10, 2023. The sold-out show was their first U.S. appearance since the pandemic, with a previous show at The Neptune in December 2019.
Ladytron layers catchy dark lyrics atop distorted synth and guitar arpeggios, disco beats, and deeply-felt bass. Their set included tunes from every album of their seven-album discography, with priority to their January 2023 release, Time’s Arrow. Colorful artistic visuals were projected behind the band, casting frontwomen Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo into dramatic silhouette.
From Seattle, Ladytron continued their west-coast tour, with stops in Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. They play several North American dates in September and November .
Opening was Los Angeles-based producer BLAKKAT (Mark Bell), with a set of danceable tunes and swirling lights.

Show Preview: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy @ Jazz Alley – Thursday, July 13th through Sunday, July 16th
~Dagmar
California’s Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will make six appearances at Jazz Alley over four days! It’s now been thirty years since the swing band hopped onto the scene. With its current lineup of lead singer & guitarist Scotty Morris and trumpet player Glen “The Kid” Marhevka, plus saxophone/clarinet player Karl Hunter AND drummer Kurt Sodergren; bassist Dirk Shumaker; baritone saxophonist Andy Rowley and Joshua Levy on piano, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy hold a special place in my heart for (and not limited to) releasing two Christmas albums. One even had “Mr. Heatmiser” on it! While they probably won’t do any Christmas tunes (hey, you never know, it might cool down this heatwave we’re having), they’ll likely do the famous “The Jumpin’ Jive.” So swing, swing swing. Wear comfy but pretty dancing shoes.
For tickets and more information, head to Jazz Alley’s Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s event page.

Singer-songwriters Sophia Roselle and Amelia Day recently performed during the 90s Nostalgia show at the Vera Project. The two went to high school together in Seattle and are now attending college in Nashville, both majoring in music. We spent some time before the show taking casual photos around the Seattle Center.
