The Vaccines are delicious. The exciting London band opened for Arctic Monkeys at Showbox SoDo recently and completely blew my mind. I’ve been compulsively listening to their debut, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?, and what an absolute stunner of a CD it is. Seattle gets lucky again because The Vaccines will headline the Crocodile on Thursday, September 8th.

Photos: Sade @ KeyArena

On Sunday night British artist Sade packed Seattle’s KeyArena as part of a tour that follows the release of The Ultimate Collection, a CD which features my favorite Sade song, “Hang on to Your Love.” Sade is actually the name of the band, though we all commonly refer to only the singer-songwriter Sade when we talk about the band. Don’t leave out the other band members! I had a blast taking pix at this show, and I hope you enjoy some of my shots:

Show Review & Photos: Imelda May @ the Neptune

Dublin, Ireland’s beguiling Imelda May headlined the Neptune in Seattle on Friday evening. This was my first show at the newly opened Neptune, which used to be a movie theater but has now been turned into a live music venue (with the occasional film still to be shown). As a venue it is unique in Seattle – it’s retained a cozy balcony plus the sloped floor of a movie theater, and the sound was some of the best I’ve heard. I’m not exaggerating. I was right by the stage speaker through the bulk of the night and with the way the sound was distributed there was no ringing in my ear when I left. Now, on to Imelda May’s performance.
