Concrete Blonde and Menkena played Seattle’s beautiful Neptune on January 23rd. The impressive Concrete Blonde next heads to Brazil, and Menkena, who gets its name from their lead singer, Jimmy Menkena, gives a sneak listen of their album, With You I’ll Travel here. We’ve got photos of the show from Geoffrey Gribbin!:

Capitol Hill’s the Comet had A Lull on their stage in January. A Lull, from Chicago Illinois, recently released the beautiful Confetti. On a nerdy note, A Lull’s site is very well-designed. But that’s not what we’re here to talk about, instead we’re here to display photos by Lord Fotog, who caught some wicked shots of the band.

Hey, Wolves in the Throne Room come from Olympia, Washington! This makes them one of our own Northwest bands. Brothers Nathan Weaver and Aaron Weaver are touring behind the band’s fourth release, Celestial Lineage, with a stop at Seattle’s Crocodile on January 17th. Lord Fotog captured some atmospheric shots of the group.

Hey, okay this show went down in September 2011. We didn’t sit on these photos intentionally (when I say “we,” I mean Dagmar, the editor – Heather contributed ages ago). Cody Beebe & The Crooks played their last show as seven-piece that night, and were joined by Hot Bodies in Motion and Ben Union. By the way, Ben Union had a big show Saturday night. Perhaps you caught it? Thank you to Heather Fitzpatrick for sharing these. Here are a few of Fitzpatrick’s shots from September:

Nashville artist Jessie Baylin was the headliner at the Triple Door last Wednesday, in her first tour in two years. Seattle was the initial stop in support of her new album, Little Spark. The Watson Twins – Leigh and Chandra – opened and sang backup during Jessie’s set. Some trivia … Jessie is married to Kings of Leon drummer, Nathan Followill.
