Photos: BBS Show w/the Confetti Kids, Foreign Orange, Vibe Warrior & Levels @ the Comet

On May 22nd BBS and the Comet put on a show featuring the Confetti Kids, Foreign Orange, Vibe Warrior and Levels. I had a blast and loved all four bands’ performances, which spotlighted entirely different music from each other. That is always a good thing. Thank you to the people who came out on a Wednesday evening – an honestly excellent turnout – and to the Comet for holding the show. Also thank you to photographer John Sanders, who contributed photos of the Confetti Kids. The Confetti Kids are recording new music, and next play the Sunset on July 1st, and Levels next have a show in Tacoma on July 26th.

Photos: Jim James @ the Neptune Theatre

Jim James, an artist you may initially know from My Morning Jacket, released his debut solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God, this year. To introduce fans to his new music, James embarked on a tour, which included an appearance on May 15th at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre. Photographer Tino Tran was there, and got some nicely-lit snaps.

Photos: Celtic Woman @ Paramount Theatre

Celtic Woman brought their North American tour to the Paramount Theatre last week. The all-female musical ensemble from Ireland included vocalists Chloë Agnew, Lisa Lambe, Susan McFadden, and fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt, who played a medley of songs ranging from customary Celtic tunes to modern-day numbers. They were backed by a six-member choir, dancers, and a small orchestra emphasizing drums and traditional instruments. On several occasions the vocalists, dancers and musicians made their way to the main floor – much to the delight of the audience.

Photos: Jewel @ Moore Theatre

Jewel made a stop in Seattle last week during her nationwide Greatest Hits tour in support of her latest album with the same name. Her brother Atz Lee opened, followed by Steve Poltz. Jewel was a very interesting storyteller and told many stories about her experiences during the course of her 20+ year music career. Steve Poltz came out and they sang her hit “You Were Meant For Me,” which they co-wrote while she was living in San Diego. Her father Atz Kilcher began the encore with a solo and was joined by Jewel for a few songs, with the last being one that they yodeled together.
