Photos: Celtic Woman @ Paramount Theatre

Celtic Woman brought their North American tour to the Paramount Theatre last week. The all-female musical ensemble from Ireland included vocalists Chloë Agnew, Lisa Lambe, Susan McFadden, and fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt, who played a medley of songs ranging from customary Celtic tunes to modern-day numbers. They were backed by a six-member choir, dancers, and a small orchestra emphasizing drums and traditional instruments. On several occasions the vocalists, dancers and musicians made their way to the main floor – much to the delight of the audience.

Photos: Jewel @ Moore Theatre

Jewel made a stop in Seattle last week during her nationwide Greatest Hits tour in support of her latest album with the same name. Her brother Atz Lee opened, followed by Steve Poltz. Jewel was a very interesting storyteller and told many stories about her experiences during the course of her 20+ year music career. Steve Poltz came out and they sang her hit “You Were Meant For Me,” which they co-wrote while she was living in San Diego. Her father Atz Kilcher began the encore with a solo and was joined by Jewel for a few songs, with the last being one that they yodeled together.

Show Review & Photos: Of Monsters and Men & Half Moon Run @ the Paramount Theatre

Of Monsters and Men & Half Moon Run @ the Paramount Theatre, 5/14
Show Review & Photos by Heather Fitzpatrick

After a stint as musical guests on Saturday Night Live performing “Little Talks” and “Mountain Sound” on May 4th, Of Monsters And Men embarked on a world tour and recently played to a sold out crowd at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. They are fairly new to the music scene (beginning as a solo project for lead singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir in 2009) but continue to grow a large fanbase after much success in their homeland of Iceland. In 2010 local radio station KEXP featured them during Iceland Airwaves performing “Little Talks” live from their living room. Of Monsters and Men released their first full-length CD, My Head Is An Animal in April of 2012, and have appeared at numerous music festivals around the globe, including their most recent shows at 2013 Coachella. They will also be featured artists at Bonnaroo Music Festival this June, and continue their world tour through August. Canadian rock band Half Moon Run opened the show.

Photos: Sasquatch! Day 4 – Monday w/ Alt-J, Menomena . . .

If you were at Sasquatch! last weekend, one of the acts you probably waited patiently the entire time to see was Alt-J. Naturally there were other artists to hanker for, such as Oregon duo Menomena. All photos by Abby Williamson:
