Seattle country radio station, The Wolf (KKWF, 100.7 FM), held their annual Hometown Holiday show at the ShoWare Center in Kent last week. Hosted by morning DJs Cory Fitz and Ellen Tailor, artists Maddie & Tae, Hunter Hayes, Josh Turner, and Tyler Farr (in order of appearance) performed in a guitar pull. Seth Ennis, who also performed at Watershed in August, opened.
Award-winning singer-songwriter Liz Longley played at the Triple Door last week during the West Coast leg of her Weightless tour, in support of her recent album with the same name. This was Liz’s second show at the venue in as many years. Brian Dunne, who went to college with Liz, opened and joined her on stage for several songs.
Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2 @ the Paramount, Th. 12/8
Preview by Dagmar
The magnificent rapper Snoop Dogg brings his Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2 to the Paramount on Thursday evening, December 8th. The tour, including a noticeably excellent lineup with Snoop Dogg, Bone thugs-n-harmony, Warren G, DJ Quik and Tha Dogg Pound, is primarily sponsored by app Best Bud Best Buy and Snoop’s Premium Nutrients. No one has asked me to plug those companies, I just think they look like cool products. I also need to point out to other West Coasters: although there’s an Eastern Washington show happening as I type, this is the only Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2 show among Seattle, WA, Oregon and Canada until he heads to California. So consider that if were undecided, and get your butt over here from Canada and Oregon.
Snoop Dogg, who’s been a brilliantly prolific artist, released album 14 this year with July’s Coolaid. Just a couple years ago I saw his show at WaMu Theater, and found him a compelling performer with mega charm. There has never been a time where Snoop was not an exciting part of music culture, and I don’t think there ever will be. The fact he’s sharing a stage with these artists emphasizes he has nothing to prove. He continues to make a huge mark, and we Seattleites love him.
Alexandra Savior opened for Daughter over the weekend at the Neptune Theatre. She and her four-member band played songs off her upcoming debut album, Belladonna of Sadness, to be released next April. Alexandra will be back in town at the Tractor Tavern on January 21.
Chop Suey had the Rocket Summer on its stage in springtime, May 17th to be precise. Texan Bryce Avary is the multi-instrument-playing artist behind the Rocket Summer, and he’s a man with other awesome interests, including black belt karate competitions. We’re told he would have been a dog trainer had he not made it in music. A totally cool guy in our books.
If you’re in Anaheim, California on December 16th, catch him at an amazingly-named event called Night of the Elf Creep. Two happy plugs for the Rocket Summer: album number six, Zoetic, is out now, but if you’re a Christmas fan? Even better news might be the fact that the Rocket Summer has a Christmas album, Christmas Madness, which has a song called “Elf Creep” on it! It’s all coming together beautifully for December festivities, right?
