Yes, Death Valley Girls lists the night time as their influence on Facebook. The Californian quartet spent an evening at Chop Suey in September, sharing their garage vibes, and also sharing the stage with Seattle’s Branden Daniel and the Chics and Eli. Signed with Burger Records (home of Dwarves, FIDLAR, Audacity), Death Valley Girls did not ask us to share the following information: Last month, the band’s van transmission went out: Oh no! But one of their friends kindly created a GoFundMe to help out. Just throwing that out there.

Rising Seattle country performer Miller Campbell opened for Danielle Bradbery at Steel Creek in Tacoma. Backed by Morgan Wick on guitar and Caleb Morgan on bass, Miller began her set with “Obsession,” the first single off her upcoming album, Sweet Whiskey. The enthusiastic audience were treated to several more tunes off the record, plus a few covers. Miller will have her debut album release show at the Tractor Tavern on November 15.

NEEDTOBREATHE‘s Bear Rinehart

NEEDTOBREATHE put on outdoor show at Marymoor Park on September 1, 2016. If you notice that date, you’ll know this is also a Walk Down Memory Lane post, where we can still enjoy the show photos (but a bit late -sorry, the editor apologizes). This one’s part 17, if you’re asking.

NEEDTOBREATHE has roots in Possum Kingdom (singer and guitarist are brother; they grew up in the city), probably the same Possum Kingdom in the song by Toadies. Why am I fixated on this? First, that song is fanastic. Second, how cool would it be to say you’re from Possum Kingdom. But back to NEEDTOBREATHE. Every single NEEDTOBREATHE album (there are 6) has received great reviews. 2016’s Hard Love was another hit. These accomplishments in music are pretty rare.

We’ve also got photos of the evening’s openers, Mat Kearney and John Mark McMillan.

Music: The Presets’ “Do What You Want”

Band: The Presets
Song: “Do What You Want”
Why You Want to Listen: This really exciting! The Presets, always one of my faves, are back with their first album since 2012’s Pacifica. This Australian duo knows how to come up with cool songs, and guess what? They’ve done it again with song one, “Do What You Want,” off an upcoming 2018 album. And I also love this photo of them with assorted gummy candies on their faces. Yum.
