On Tuesday evening the super band Gomez headlined the Showbox Market. Men like this band too, but I was struck that the entire front row of the audience was female. Why? I think Gomez just has that special touch. They always keep things moving and exciting – plus with several singers you’re bound to get satisfaction from one if you don’t like the others. But I like them all, and seven albums along and Gomez has again hit hard with Whatever’s On Your Mind, an album which got some serious play during the show with “Options,” “I Will Take You There,” “Whatever’s On Your Mind,” “Just As Lost As You Are,” and “That Wolf.” It’s difficult to pin down the best moments of the evening – so many great songs got trotted out – but my heavy favorites were “Airstream Driver,” “Get Myself Arrested,” “Whatever’s On Your Mind,” “Silence,” “Devil Will Ride,” “Get Miles,” “Whippin’ Picadilly,” and what very well might be my favorite Gomez song, “Ruff Stuff.” Gomez are multi-instrumental heroes.
