Back Beat Seattle | Photos: SXSW 2017 in Austin, Texas

Back from another March pilgrimage to Austin for the SXSW Music Festival. An additional day was added to the festival this year, resulting in six solid days of music – Monday to Saturday – nonstop each day from noon until 2am. I saw 70 performances in Austin during that time. This included the official showcases in the evening that your purchased badge admits you to, as well as the many, many free day parties put on by record companies, publicists, instrument manufactures, countries, publications, and everything else related to the music industry – complete with complimentary food and drinks. The official shows had 2000+ performers hailing from 60+ counties appearing in 100+ venues. This was my eighth SXSW and every year I declare a Best New Find. This year it’s Maggie Rogers and she’ll soon be a household name. And without further ado, here’s one photo from each of the 70 performances:
