Details: Beautiful work from Dian Liang, a Shanghai-based artist. I love how shiny, yet dark, her art is. Look at those wolves! Those claws! In It’s Nice That, Liang said she tries to “paint psychology.” Enthusiastic praise from her Instagram followers include such comments as “OMG furry,” “furry powah,” and “Immaculate.”

Rapper Killer Mike is now on his 11th solo album. Titled Michael, it features a vast number of artists including CeeLo Green, Dave Chappelle, Young Thug, and 2 Chainz, among others. In case you didn’t know, Killer Mike is 1/2 of Run the Jewels, and he’s also involved in political activism. And he just happens to own an Atlanta-based barbershop called The SWAG Shop.

Brooklyn, New York’s Big Thief were the headliners at Marymoor Park on August 5th, 2023. The band, who have been nominated for Grammy Awards five times, have a new single, “Vampire Empire.” You can hear that song right over here. Fans of the group should also know that guitarist Buck Meek will take his new album, Haunted Mountain on tour, starting. . . now.

The wonderful duo Tegan and Sara make an appearance tomorrow at Woodland Park Zoo as part of ZooTunes. The Canadian twins released their 10th album, Crybaby, last year plus just this year releasing their 2nd autobiographical work, Junior High. I love that they write these books. It can be so helpful for people to read about others’ experiences. And a continuing tradition in my life: this band is responsible for a huge number of Shazam searches on my phone. Seriously, whenever I hear a song I might not know and really love, it seems like 9/10 times it’s Tegan and Sara. So I obviously need to become a more thorough fan and dig into their albums. Another photographer will catch the show tomorrow for BBS, and I want to hear and see all about it! Tickets are sold out at this time but I see a few over on craigslist.
