Last year, Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their first album in nine years! Cool It Down received enormously good reviews, and included Perfume Genius on some of the vocals. And. . . Perfume Genius opened for the band at the Seattle Marymoor Park show this summer. When Seattle music and New York music collide, it’s a wonderful thing. Perfume Genius’ latest, Ugly Season, likewise has received awesome reviews, I’m happy to report. It’s so great to see Yeah Yeahs back and on the road!

Cool Cover: Pussy Riot’s “Bad Trip”

Artist: Pussy Riot
Single: “Bad Trip”
Details: It’s a detail from Hieronymus Bosch‘s painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights. I’ve always been stunned by Bosch’s art. So much going on, so much spooky beauty. The Dutch artist Bosch was around in the 15th and 16th centuries, and is mostly known for creating weird, hellish paintings and moving religious works.

The Summer Odyssey Tour, co-headlining Beck and Phoenix, made a visit to Climate Pledge Arena on August 1st. With the lovely Beck wearing a fantastic white suit, and Phoenix bringing their beauty as well, just gaze upon Tino Tran’s photos. And be happy. These will make you happy. Sometimes just the right bands appear together!

LA-based pop songstress Rosie Darling opened for Katelyn Tarver at Madame Lou’s – the fourth stop on the Compliments Only Tour.  Accompanied by Mike Nardone on keys, Darling sang songs from her Coping and Golden Age EPs that have well over 150M streams on Spotify alone.

Singer-songwriter and actor Katelyn Tarver performed at Madame Lou’s, one of several stages at the legendary Crocodile Café.  Backed by drums and guitar/keys, Tarver treated the audience to songs from her numerous albums spanning nearly 20 years.  Seattle was the fourth stop on the Compliments Only Tour, her first to headline.  Towards the end of her set, Tarver gave the audience a sneak peek at her upcoming album Quitter and performed the title track, which was enthusiastically received by the crowd.
