Details: The always-tasty Phantogram headlined the Paramount? Yes, they sure did! New York pair Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel has had a great couple years. Evidence? Opening for Muse in 2015 and releasing Three, Phantogram’s third album. We’re also excited to see Phantogram on the lineup for this year’s Sasquatch! Music Festival, with a very high spot on the event’s poster. Congratulations to Carter and Barthel, who revealed themselves to be creatively “psychic twins” in a recent Playboy interview.

Women’s March on Seattle, 1/22/17
Photos by John Rudolph:

Details: On Saturday afternoon, an estimated 120,000 people took part in Women’s March on Seattle. They marched 3.6 miles in the Downtown Seattle core; many of them brought signs. Photographer John Rudolph was at the festival, and got some great shots of the action. (Editor’s note: Want a pick for a specific way you can help women, worldwide, in danger? Check out V-Day, who made Marie Claire‘s list of “10 Best Charities” in 2007).

Details: Epitomizing English punk rock since 1976, Buzzcocks were headliners at Neumos in May 2016. Including their second singer Pete Shelley, who took over duties from original singer Howard Devoto (twice, at that), Buzzcocks may have taken the ’80s off, but have consistently released very well-received albums over the years. They’ve also got a cool box set called Buzzocks Mk. 1, including all kinds of goodies such as their debut EP Spiral Scratch, coming out in March 2017. The Residents opened!

Photos: Springtime Carnivore @ Tractor Tavern

Springtime Carnivore, fronted by Greta Morgan, played a sold out show at the Tractor Tavern last week. It was the first stop of their short west coast tour with the Fruit Bats. Backed by Kathleen Cruger (keys) and Dasha Shleyeva (bass), Morgan played numerous songs off her most recent album, Midnight Room, which was released in October. They’ll be back on the road in March with The Head and the Heart.
