Unknown Mortal Orchestra‘s Ruban Nielson – photo by Neil Krug

Unknown Mortal Mortal Orchestra, led by Ruban Nielson will be here on Monday, May 7th to headline the Moore! The New Zealand trio are hot on the release of their fourth album, Sex & Food (great title), which was recorded internationally. That’s awesome, too, and “Everyone Acts Crazy Nowadays,” the second release off the album, definitely reflects the world right now. Unknown Mortal Orchestra knows how to combine excellently disco with rock, and some psychedelia, and it’s all great stuff. They’ll have the Scottish producer Makeness open – don’t miss him as well.

In 2017, photographer Monica Martinez attended, and her first group of photos are from day 1. Brent Amaker and the Rodeo, Charms, the Fabulous Downey Brothers, Metz and the White Tears & Pearl Dragon Is Dead were among the performers. Thanks Monica, for racing all over and getting these cool shots.

Suicide Girls are back! And you only need to be at least 18 years old to attend, because this is art. Anyone seeing photos of the show or going to the show knows this is art, and we at Back Beat Seattle love these girls. All women are beautiful! Last time they were here, they were dancing stormtroopers (big thumbs up from me, I adore stormtroopers and you should, too). Who knows what they’ll be up to this time (Stranger Things, anyone?). Respect the fact that the girls are the self-proclaimed “daughters of Bettie Page,” and they will do whatever they want. Oh, and entertain you, naturally.
