French musician Dan Levy and Finnish singer-musician Olivia Merilahti make up the award-winning duo called the Dø. Based in France, the Dø (apparently named after the solfège scale’s first note (what???), just won best album of the year with 2014’s Shake Shook Shaken at the French GRAMMYS. And now the Dø heads out on its first US tour ever, which began last night in Los Angeles.
The Dø has an inviting sound, sometimes synth-orchestral, and Merilahti’s voice is adorable. But Francophiles be on alert: the songs are sung in English, but are really cool. The Dø has sold out shows all over Europe and beyond. You know you honestly can’t resist that credible temptation. Also, even though the band is not well known here yet, the show’s set could be put together of songs from its four albums. Very nice.
