107.7 the End’s Deck The Hall Ball 2009 was sold out weeks before the December 15th show. And it’s no wonder, with such a lineup: Muse headlined the show with Vampire Weekend, Metric, Phoenix, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Seattle’s own Visqueen all playing sets beforehand. With 7500 people crowded in to the WaMu Theater, the bands combined forces to put on an incredible show.

Visqueen kicked things off with a short, but sweet 20-minute set.
Vampire Weekend were impressive to see and hear. Within their half-hour set, they played all the songs you know. And did it with razor-sharp precision.
Phoenix was one of the best acts of the night…another relatively short set, but they played amazingly well and were a blast to watch as Thomas Mars mingled with the crowd. At the end of the set, Thomas crowd surfed all the way to the back of the crowd so he could wish their sound engineer happy birthday. Rad.
Emily Haines was super energetic on stage with Metric. The guitar player even showed off for the camera a bit, but a mic stand got in the way of my beautiful shot. Typical.
30 Seconds To Mars were probably the most photogenic group of the night. The guitar player shredded like crazy and frontman Jared Leto spent a lot of time out in the crowd.
Muse was the highlight of the night. Said by some to be “the best live band in the world”, they were great to watch.
