Grimes, the Canadian one-woman electro-pop group fronted by Claire Boucher, opened for Austra last week at the Crocodile Café. The band/Grimes/she/Claire/they will be back in town at the Sunset Tavern on 2/20/12.
Jane Monheit played the her first of five shows at Jazz Alley on Friday evening. Accompanied by Michael Kanan (piano), Neal Miner (bass) and husband Rick Montalbano (drums), Jane sang a number of songs off her latest album, Home, as well as a beautiful rendition of “Over The Rainbow.”
Feist performed at the Moore Theater in support of her recently-released fourth studio album, Metals. The Grammy-nominated, Juno award-winning artist and her six-member band played songs from most of her albums, but the popular “1234” was a surprising exception. The Canadian electro-pop-goth band Austra played at the Crocodile Café in support of their latest album, Feel It Break. Fronted by Katie Stelmanis – whose middle name is Austra – twins Sari and Romy Lightman added some amazing harmonies.
