Molly Moon Presents: Vera-licious Ice Cream

Yum. I just got this press release about a special ice cream that will be available at the Capitol Hill location of Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream:

Molly Moon creates “Vera-licious” flavor to support all-ages music and arts

Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream has created a new chocolate flavor with sweet, local raspberries mixed in to support The Vera Project, Seattle’s music-arts center run by and for youth.

This weekend only, July 24-26 during the Capitol Hill Block Party, you can treat yourself to Vera-licious chocolate raspberry ice cream at the Capitol Hill location, cool down and support The Vera Project with every scoop or pint. Scoops at Molly Moon’s are $3 and pints are $5. All proceeds from the Vera-licious flavor will be donated to the Vera Project.

The Vera Project’s stage at the Capitol Hill Block Party is bringing some delicious music and Molly Moon’s is helping make it happen by supporting Vera.

It’s going to be 85 on Saturday! Come down and eat up some Vera-licious: Rich chocolate with tart and sweet local raspberries, and supporting all-ages music.

If you miss the Vera-licious flavor this weekend, you can still get it at shows at the Vera Project by the half-pint after Block Party weekend.

Doughnut Eating Contest with Unnatural Helpers & El Vez

What does a doughnut eating contest have to do with music? Plenty. This year Top Pot Doughnuts is working with some fine local labels, including Light in the Attic Records and Sub Pop, and kexp to hold a doughnut eating contest at the Top Pot Doughnuts on 5th Avenue. I need to see this. Plus Unnatural Helpers will play live at the event and El Vez hosts. My favorite Top Pot Doughnut is . . . actually I can’t pick one. They’re all tasty. So, be there, 2124 5th Avenue, August 1st at 1:00 pm.

Speaking of eating doughnuts, I should hope this dog would make an appearance:

Photos: The Crystal Method @ WaMu Theater

I feel like I should start a whole new category on here called Dagmar Catches Up or something of that sort. I am ashamed it’s taken me this long to get these photos of the Crystal Method up. Very ashamed. What makes it worse is that this is a band I really love. Enough with my bellyaching. Enjoy some photos and I hope these guys get back here immediately.

Amelia’s Capitol Hill Block Party preview and #1 don’t-miss band – Sleepy Eyes of Death

I’ve got a tight schedule planned for the Capitol Hill Block Party, and wondered how I’d pull it off until I saw the new layout. Last year was my first CHBP and it was packed and difficult to get around the mainstage area, which was in the center of everything. This year, the main stage is tucked against a dead end, freeing up the intersection for traffic and creating a dedicated audience space. Yay!

I’ll be bouncing from stage to stage both days, trying to see and hear everyone, and will be carrying a list of not-to-miss acts, including the one I built my schedule around, Sleepy Eyes of Death. If you’ve not yet seen this incredible live band, take this chance to see them at Neumos, where the sound system allows them to truly shine.

Friday 6 pm Bow + Arrow – VERA Stage

7:45 Sleepy Eyes of Death – Neumos

9:15 Built to Spill – Main Stage

You’re not going to miss the band that let us choose their setlist are you? I voted for this one. Following Sleepy Eyes with Built to Spill is the best idea ever and I can’t wait for this nice chunk of evening music. I’ll hopefully see Starfucker in between, but am sure Sleepy Eyes will be sticking with me into Built to Spill’s set.

10:30 They Live! – Neumos

10:45 The Jesus Lizard – Main Stage

I doubt I’ll have anything left after The Jesus Lizard, but may try for a bit of Sing Sing at 11:45. Then home to dump photos, sleep, and get ready to do it all again.

Saturday 1pm Wild Orchid Children – VERA Stage

3pm Hotels – Neumos

3:15 The Moondoggies – Main Stage

4:45 New Faces – VERA Stage

7:15 The Lonely Forest – VERA Stage

7:45 Truckasauras – Neumos — Be there for this set!!!

9:00 The Gossip – Main Stage

9:45 Japandroids – VERA Stage

10:30 Sonic Youth – Main Stage

See you there!

The Raveonettes to Play Seattle November 6th

What a pleasing thing to see today on the Raveonettes’ myspace blog:

Today we have announced the dates for our US tour in the fall to support the release of “In & Out Of Control”.
We’re also very excited to reveal that one of our favorite bands is supporting us on the East Coast, the majestic “Black Angels” from Austin, Texas. Support for West coast dates still a secret.
Tickets should go on sale this Friday, july 24.

Nov. 6 – Seattle, Wash. (Neumo’s)

In this heat I am already looking forward to a moody and dark night in November. Listen to a demo of Boys Who Rape and check out more demos and studio videos on their Vice Records page.
