The Killthrax Tour is a big deal. Whoever got this lineup together deserves some big credit. As a co-headlining tour, Killswitch Engage and Anthrax have joined forces; in Seattle, they’ll take over the SoDo area with super loud and super great metal, with Killswitch Engage as the second headliner (closer, final headliner, last band of night. . . however you choose to say this). Or, to avoid any confusion, Anthrax will play right before them. That’s cool – they’re switching off each night of the tour, giving the audience a chance to appreciate even more openers of mighty stature. Both East Coast bands have new albums from last year, and you’ll hear all the excellent, melodic screaming and music you could possibly handle. Probably even more. This is a damn great thing. And fact: Killswitch Engage has been Grammy nominated twice. So there.
Anthrax also does cool stuff, like meeting Robert De Niro and having their music played on Mars (thanks to NASA). They’re excited to share a stage with Killswitch Engage. Said Anthrax’s Frank Bello: “Get out your pit pants and start stretching now for all the glorious action and fun!” Another cool bonus is that Killswitch Engage is touring with their original lead singer, Jesse Leach. Again, this is a big deal.
For openers, the Devil Wears Prada and Code Orange complete the awesome lineup. On 2016’s Transit Blues, the Devil Wears Prada drew from major authors from Dostoevsky to Faulkner, bringing highly literate references to metal. I love this because, hey, I love reading as well as listening to music. Joining the two is the best.
