Day 2 of Bumbershoot strongly delivers on the EDM (Electronic Dance Music, you know!) side of things. You’ll be a happy camper if you hang out at the Pavilion Stage, but there’s also the brilliant comedy troupe Blood Squad, plus We Are Scientists, a band we love over here at Back Beat Seattle.
1:00 & 6:00 – Ted Alexandro at the Playhouse
Ted Alexandro’s not just another comedian based in New York City (it seems nearly all comedians are based in New York City these days) – he’s also an exceptionally good comedian. Alexandro introduced himself in this way on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson: “I am 42 years old, I’m single, never married, no kids. I did it. Made it through the maze.”
1:15 – We Are Scientists @ Fisher Green Stage
One of the bands appearing at Bumbershoot we are always thrilled to feature is We Are Scientists. In fact, photographer/writer Abby Williamson went to their Seattle, Vancouver and Portland show this summer. They return for what will be a musically revealing show outside. I totally want to see this band get all silly outside.

5:15 – Blood Squad @ Theatre Puget Sound Stage
Blood Squad’s performances (they’ll appear again on Monday) are my runner-up to the Simpson’s writers as the event most likely to cause a riot. The sensationally funny and creative comedy troupe perform approximately 4-5 times a year, although I wish it were more frequently than that. Basing their improv around audience suggestions on titles of horror movies, the clever actors will make you laugh. Believe me.
7:00 – Highdrops @ the Pavilion Stage
Seattle heavy bass and electronic duo, Highdrops, make their Bumbershoot debut at the Pavilion Stage. According to their bio, Highdrops is “especially recognizable for their ability to merge genres such as trap, dubstep, d&b, hardstyle riddem, Uk garage, and more.” That sounds about right from what I am hearing.
8:00 – Aaron Simpson @ the Pavilion Stage
I love trance music. I can have that stuff on constantly and never get tired of it, so it’s no surprise I recommend catching Aaron Simpson’s mixes. In fact, I recommend hanging out at the Pavilion Stage from 7- to the end of Monday evening.
8:45 – Kid Hops @ the Pavilion Stage
Kid Hops, a Seattle-based DJ whose shows appear on KEXP, will keep everything going strong at the Pavilion. Let him move you. That’s really all you need to know. Just enjoy.
10:30– Savant @ the Pavilion Stage
Norway’s Savant brings Bumbershoot a bit of trance, a bit of dubstep, a bit of drum and bass. . . a bit of everything really. Savant will have – and deserve – your attention.
