On Saturday night, August 2nd (it’s August already!!!), Neumos and Barboza have it going on with a STRFKR DJ set upstairs at Neumos and the Tragic Thrills headlining Barboza with Air Traffic Controller and Bandolier. But, as with so many shows that happen near the same time, you don’t have to choose between the two – catch the Tragic Thrills for an early show, then head to STRFKR to close out the evening.
And why should you see these acts? The Tragic Thrills, a quintet from San Diego, begin their nationwide tour on their Saturday date. These guys, with rock and folk tinges in their sound, have monster success written all over them. See them while you can at this smaller venue. Another great band from Boston (I’m also looking at you, Magic Man) Air Traffic Controller, opens. I will automatically be kindly disposed towards any band who lists the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac as its top two influences. Fact. And I make no secret of my love for Seattle’s Bandolier. Electronic band STRFKR, making a short trip from Portland, always has a huge draw here, and now you can boogie with them pretty much all night. Have fun!
