Equipped with flashing strobe lights and awesome music, Northern Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club overtook the Neptune in October. I loved their debut, Tourist History, so much I needed to take a self-enforced break from listening to it so I wouldn’t get completely sick of it. When new music came out last year in the form of Beacon, I was interested yet anxious. What if it didn’t live up to the first album? Or what if it did, and I developed another musical obsession? The latter happened, along with the addiction of listening over and over. Beacon surpassed Tourist History, a happy moment for any fan of a band. The songs “Someday” and “Pyramid” are overwhelmingly two of my favorite songs. They’re magic. Two Door Cinema Club is magic. At the Seattle date (my fourth time seeing them) they showed just how magic by playing an invigorating set with tons of knock you over energy.
