The Bow Wow Wow/Gene Loves Jezebel show at Studio Seven was surprising, a little disappointing, and interesting all at the same time. First let’s get the “elephant in the room” out of the way first. This was a small crowd.

The evening opened with a classic rock styled band from Bainbridge Island called Down Goes Frazier. These guys were really good and they were easily the surprise of the night. It’s rare when the third band on the bill is one of the best.

Gene Loves Jezebel‘s Michael Aston did a good job but he didn’t have his own band. He used Bow Wow Wow for his band and it was kind of a strange combination.

Bow Wow Wow was very interesting. Most of the original members, including Annabella Lwin, were missing but they were still fun. Bow Wow Wow hit the stage with the energy of a seasoned rockabilly band instead of an ’80s New Wave band and they never let up.

Chloe Demetria and the band acknowledged the small crowd and then performed like they were in front of 30,000 instead of 30. Playing most of their biggest hits including “I Want Candy,” the crowd ate it up and then stayed around for the meet and greet. Bow Wow Wow were every bit the professionals that you would expect from a band with 30 years of experience.
