Show Review & Photos: The Wombats @ Bumbershoot

The Wombats @ Bumbershoot
Show Review & Photos by Dagmar

The Wombats put on an exciting and danceable set for their Bumbershoot appearance. I love this band, and have seen two of their four shows in Seattle over the years (I would have seen all but missed two due to illness). The Liverpool trio has smart lyrics, excellent hooks and beats and you know what? They are just tremendous; they are top of the heap. Newer songs such as “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves),” “1996” and “Jump into the Fog” were superb; “Backfire at the Disco” and “Kill the Director” held strong. I also enjoyed the live performance of “My First Wedding.”

The Bumbershoot performance invigorated the crowd with a festive atmosphere. As a fan, I was really happy to see The Wombats get exposure to other music fans that might not have been so familiar with them. The crowd was amped. If you do not have their two full-length albums, The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation and The Wombats Proudly Present: This Modern Glitch, get them. And have a party in any manner you want.
