Show Previews: Fran Healy @ the Triple Door & Rasputina @ Neumos, Wed. 8/18

Travis’ Fran Healy is doing some solo work! The Glaswegian appears in Seattle tomorrow, Wednesday August 18th at the Triple Door as a bit of a preview for his solo album, Wreckorder, which comes out in October 2010. Healy, who is 1/4 of one of my favorite bands and is behind many of my favorite songs, should put on a totally charming performance. Hear a couple of his new songs, including the beautiful “BUTTERCUPS”.

Over at Neumos Brooklyn’s Rasputina is set to play their emotive cellos. First of all, this band is very interesting to look at – I am fascinated by all things Victorian so their appearance sticks out. If I knew nothing else about them I’d be interested in them for this fact. But second of all they write very peculiar and strangely pretty songs about bizarre topics – “Herb Girls of Birkenau“. Well okay!
