We Are Scientists are one of the best bands you’ll find. Solid live and recorded, they are just damn entertaining and fun. They bring wit to their music and shows, as well as exquisite musicianship. And as a bonus, Youth Group’s Danny Allen joined the duo on drums. Singer/guitarist Keith Murray joked it was Allen’s first time in the States – so be nice to him. We Are Scientists’ new material from their latest release, Barbara, struts along with their earlier work, and Murray and bassist/vocalist Chris Murray have such a unique chemistry together – they make it look like playing shows is just the most natural thing in the world. Opening Tuesday’s show were fellow New Yorker, Rewards (solo project of Chairlift’s Aaaron Pfenning) and locals Black Whales, who both put on spiffy shows.
