I had the good fortune of seeing New Jersey’s Indie rock group, Steel Train at Chop Suey on Friday night. Steel Train has been playing together since 1999 and it shows. They put on a great show that was full of energy and well appreciated by the crowd. Judging by how tight the band was, it didn’t surprise me to read that they have played with the likes of The Fray, Ben Folds, and Gomez.
Jack Antonoff and the guys proved to be very versatile playing their own songs including I Feel Weird from their acclaimed album Trampoline and Dancing In The Dark from another New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen. One of the funnest parts of the night was when the band members all switched instruments and played The Band’s 1968 song, The Weight. The crew at Chop Suey deserve a mention too. They definitely helped make the show fun with their witty humor and professional demeanor. I will be attending more shows at Chop Suey soon.
