. . . And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead played a vicious show at Neumos on Tuesday evening. I haven’t seen this band in a few years and I totally regret that. They’re a massive tidal wave of great noise and I love how they play live, holding back nothing at all. The band still has its core members Conrad Keely, Jason Reece and Kevin Allen but I want to make a particular mention of new bassist Jay Phillips. Phillips adds to the band in an incalculable way that makes everyone even better – and it’s difficult to have imagined these guys having any need at all for improvement. The band is titanic and some of my favorite moments were Isis Unveiled (one of the best songs to come out in a long time from any band), Caterwaul, How Near, How Far, Days of Being Wild and Will You Smile Again for Me. Plus they’re such a great band to take photos of.
They’ve only got a few more tour dates left of their shows supported by Future of the Left and I suggest you see this perfect double bill if you can.
